Kelowna Alpaca Farm was established in 1995 on a little piece of heaven on earth right in the heart of Kelowna, BC, Canada. The 6.5 acre farm is perched on a knoll affording a spectacular, panoramic view of Okanagan Lake and the city of Kelowna. Kelowna Alpaca Farm enjoys the best of all worlds. Surrounded by the rural tranquility of orchards and vineyards, the farm is but minutes away from the contrast of all of the amenities of a modern city considered to be one of Canada's most desirable cities in which to live and Boyd's busy dental practice.

Due to a need to simplify our lifestyle, we sold the farm to a wonderful couple from California however, we did not want to sell the alpacas so now only board them there which has proven to be a very agreeable arrangement. The farm is 15 minutes from our new home so we can continue to have full responsibility for our little fuzz butts on a daily basis which pleases me to no end. The new owners care for the property which has greatly reduced the physical and time demands on Boyd therefore allowing him to pursue his many other interests without being tied to the physical labour required to maintain the land. The move has been of great benefit to Boyd's physical well being however, I continue to miss living on the farm and having 24/7 interaction with my beloved alpaca.

Kelowna Alpaca Farm remains a business we love and through it we have made many wonderful dear friends whom we've come to cherish. The raising of the alpaca has taught us a lot about ourselves that we might otherwise never have known and for that we are indebted to them. To repay them for the gift they have given us we try to ensure their continued well being by means of an unconditional commitment to our clients with before and after sales support. We have both worked hard to protect the alpaca and our clients' investment through involvement in the alpaca community and associations. We continue to do so even today.

Your bloodstock selection will be the foundation to your breeding programme. Our CLAA and ARI registered Peruvian and Chilean stock represents some of the best available in Canada. Diversity of our quality genetics, a carefully thought out breeding programme and our conscientiousness are definitely putting a stamp of Canadian pride on our little herd. Kelowna Alpaca Farm consistently proves the merits of our breeding programme and our reputation though recognition in the showring and in the marketplace. We cannot, however, wave our little flag without giving our dear friend Cameron Holt the credit due him. Time after time, he has generously and voluntarily contributed his invaluable assistance and expertise during our learning curve about the fibre properties we are breeding for. As well, he has helped us in the selection of our animals, particularly our wonderful stud, Jolimont's Peruvian Viracocha whose offspring have proven his tremendous value by consistently bringing home top awards. Since acquiring the "V", we have taken on as partners in him Aztec Alpacas of Alberta who have also realized the great benefit of his genetics. We have Cameron to thank for this great boost to our breeding programmes.

Although the border was closed for over a year making alpaca farming in Canada very difficult for many, our optimism about the long term well being of this industry is unwavering. The fast buck opportunists will come and go but the true breeders will stay. It will be through their love and dedication to the alpaca that the industry will continue to remain strong and viable in spite of industry political challenges and economic rollercoaster rides. Alpacas as an alternate livestock has absolutely no competition as far as we're concerned. We cannot imagine our life without them. The reality is, however, that we will one day become too old to even continue on as we are and will need to consider simplifying our lifestyle even further by excluding farming and the alpaca altogether in favour of wheelchair access and a pet goldfish or whatever. But until that day arrives we cannot emphasize enough how grateful we are for having the alpacas to share our life with. They will forever be near and dear to our hearts and we shall always feel blessed for the experience.
